Using Flickmation

Quick start guide

First thing to do is to create a flickbook. Tap the add button at the top right of the flickbooks screen. Give your flickbook a name and tap the create button. You will be taken to the timeline screen.

Timeline screenshot

The timeline screen gives you an overview of your flickbook. It shows the layers (the images making up the frames of your animation) at the top and the soundtracks on the bottom. Here you can scrub through your animation by swiping your finger left and right on the main area of the screen.

Double tapping one of the red dotted boxes (individual frames of the drawn layer) near the top of the screen will take you to the drawing screen.

Drawing screen

The green section at the bottom of the screen is a scrub area that allows you to navigate through the flickbook. Swipe left and right on this area to scroll forwards and backwards or double tap a particular frame to jump straight to it. The button at the top left lets you adjust the size of the brush used whilst drawing and the one in the top right changes the opacity of the painted stroke. Other controls and options are hidden behind the controls button at the bottom left. When drawing, this controls button show your currently selected paint tool, paint mode and paint colour.

Tapping the controls button will expand it, showing the many options available within. These include changing drawing tools, copying and pasting and enabling/disabling onion skinning and many others. There are two ways to navigate these options and controls. You can tap through them or, for faster access, tap and hold and then drag to option/control you want.
